Karen Guilbault is a prolific artist with a variety of painting styles and techniques. She enjoys mixed media additions to her acrylic paintings, including pen and ink, figure drawings, hand-painted papers, and hand-pulled block prints.
Her themes always involve nature, often animals and birds. Many of her earlier works featured female figures in mythical settings. She also paints trees, often using a pouring technique for exciting textures.
Karen Guilbault was born in Victoria and has recently returned there to live, after many years in the Kootenays. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Victoria.
She is represented in Nelson at the Viewpoint Gallery.
