Karen collects long pine needles in the fall and sews them as coils, which forms the walls of the basket. She trims the edges with kelp, driftwood, and other natural fibers. The center is a painted stone, usually with a bird or animal depicted. Baskets takes 15-20 hours to make, and each one is unique.
